Who Am I?

It’s so sweet of you to want to know more about me! My name is Mo Mahon, and I’ve been called that since I was little. I feel it suits me better than my much longer given name, Miranda. Signing my full name is still fun, though! I currently live in a college town with the beach nearby, and I am beautifully aware of the blessings in my life. I’m thankful to share my perspective with you.

This blog is a safe space for all; you’re welcome here anytime. I would love any feedback on my work, so please comment on any thoughts I’ve shared among these pages and photographs. If anything I write evokes emotions in you, I would greatly value your words in return.

A Little About My Life

I am a summer baby and a Cancer. I have a twin brother and a beloved chosen family nearby. I was primarily raised in North Carolina, one of four children—all brothers! My parents live an hour or two away, and I visit them when I can.

I graduated in 2022 and moved out of my parents’ house at seventeen, with the support of my friends. I got my first job at around fourteen or fifteen during the COVID pandemic and have been working hard ever since. I have mastered social networking, which I believe is my best skill—thanks to the food service industry and the hardships of my teenage years.

My Personality

Overall, I would describe myself as independent, social, empathetic, caring, outspoken, outgoing, warm, compassionate, and, most certainly, determined. I can also be sorrowful, irritable, moody, and sometimes too hangry for my own good. I’m sure you’ll find a deeper understanding of who I am through my work.

My Creative Journey

My media journey began around the age of ten when I found myself getting left behind as I paused to capture fleeting moments on the little white Motorola my parents had gifted me. This sparked my desire to pursue photography, and I have been documenting my life ever since. It became more serious when I received my first camera from my mom for my twelfth birthday—a Nikon D3100, which I still use. I captured moments throughout high school, photographing friends, school events, sports, and field trips. For my twentieth birthday, I was gifted a step up—a Nikon D3200 with some nice lenses and a more user-friendly system.

Writing has also been an outlet for me since I was able to put pen to paper. I started journaling around the age of twelve, during a particularly hard year in my life. My journals carried on into adulthood, and I still find myself staying up late pouring out my stream of consciousness. I have documented so much, though there are some gaps and unfinished entries—often because I no longer wanted to remember what I was going through. I am grateful for these journals because looking back, I am impressed with who I was and who I have become. They serve as a reminder of every lesson learned. These journals started with pencil, but over the years, they have evolved into something much more—filled with pen, paint, hot glue, candle wax, duct tape, and anything else I could find.

The literal thousands of photographs and memories captured in writing have made me who I am today. I am incredibly thankful to be starting this journey here on my blog, with you as my audience.

I truly value your support, and I promise that it won’t go unnoticed.
